Readmission to undergraduate courses

Readmission after withdrawal

Students who

  • withdraw/discontinue from an undergraduate course or
  • fail to re-enrol in the course by the required date for re-enrolment

must apply for readmission through VTAC, unless the course is direct entry or a mid-year entry. See Applying for an undergraduate place.

Readmission after exclusion

Exclusion for unsatisfactory academic progress is normally for one year.

To reapply for the same course: for courses offered by the faculties of Law, Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Pharmacy and Science, apply through VTAC, for other courses apply directly to the faculty.

To apply for a different course: apply through VTAC.

Applicants for readmission must demonstrate evidence of improved academic performance, eg good results in another tertiary level program, or related work experience.

Exclusion on other grounds than unsatisfactory progress is an exclusion from the university and the period is determined by the university.

Relevant Policies

Readmission after invalidation

Where a student is in a commonwealth supported place (CSP) and his/her enrolment has been invalidated, the student cannot be readmitted to the university until the following semester, subject to faculty approval.

If the student is fee liable (full fee) and his/her enrolment has been invalidated, the student can be re-admitted subject to the payment of all outstanding fees and fines.

Application for readmission is made direct to the faculty of enrolment, except in the faculties of

  • Information Technology and
  • Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

where application for semester 1 recommencement is through VTAC.
