Monash trials new digital media library

The Monash University Library has been selected to trial a public access site for the SWIFT Cinemedia digital library.

Cinemedia, previously the State Film Centre of Victoria Film and Video Library, is working on the storage and delivery of film and video titles in a digital environment.

The SWIFT (Screen Windows into Film Titles) project has been under development since 1996, in conjunction with Silicon Graphics and ANSPAG, and is now at the trial stage with a number of sites established throughout Victoria.

Cinemedia also incorporates the National Library of Australia's film and video lending collection.

Staff and students are invited to visit the Library to access the system and choose from an extensive catalogue of titles.

For more information, contact Ms Georgina Binns on extn 53236. Cinemedia's home page is at www.cinemedia.com.au
