1) Payment details

There are four types of scenarios for payments of scholarships/bursaries:
a) scholarships that only allow direct payment to the student
b) scholarships that allow either direct payment to the student or allocation to their tuition fees
c) scholarships that only involve fee sponsorship
d) scholarships that involve fee sponsorship and a direct payment to the student

a) Payment direct to student

Students now receive scholarship and bursary payments directly into their nominated bank account.

Normally the form to submit or change bank account details is available on the Web Enrolment System (WES) at the start of each semester.  If this facility is not available or if a student is not comfortable submitting their bank account details via the web, students must instead complete a Banking Details Form to have their scholarship payment paid into their bank account.

An email will be sent at the beginning of each semester to advise students how to submit or update their banking details.

b) Payment to Fees

Some scholarships allow the holder to either receive the payment directly or choose to have the payment offset their tuition fees.

The default payment option is the direct payment until a request is received to allocate the payment to fees. This request can be made via the Web Enrolment System (WES) at the start of each academic year.  This request can be submitted up until 15 March each year and the ‘payment to fees’ option will last for both semester 1 and 2 of that year.  The scholarship payment credit will be applied before the 31 March and 31 August census dates.

The scholarship payment credit will take up to two weeks to be updated to your WES fee statement. If you change your study load after the credit is applied, the new credit amount will take up to two weeks to be updated to your account.

The following scholarships have this payment option:

  • Monash University Faculty Scholarships
  • Monash University Merit Scholarships
  • Monash University Honours Scholarships
  • Monash University International Scholarships for Excellence
  • Engineering Excellence Awards
  • Monash University Scholarships for Excellence and Equity
  • Monash University Indigenous Scholarships for Achievement and Equity

If a student chooses the ‘payment to fees’ option and has a scholarship payment in excess of the fees, the balance will be paid to the student in either April or September.

If a student chooses the ‘payment to fees’ option and has tuition fees due after the scholarship payment is applied, the student must pay the balance by the required fee due date.

c) Students Whose Scholarship or Bursary Provides a CSP or Fee Discount (Sponsorship)

Your Enrolment Details and Fee Statement will show your discounted CSP or fee amount due.  This includes, but is not limited to, recipients of the Monash University Scholarship for Excellence, Monash University Indigenous Scholarship for Achievement and Schools Access Monash Scholarship (awarded in 2006-2008).

If you fee statement does not show the sponsorship credit, please contact the Coursework Scholarships Unit by submitting an inquiry through ask.monash
