Payment of scholarships and bursaries

Your scholarship or bursary can be paid by either:

  • a direct payment into your bank account, or
  • direct to your course fees.

Direct payment into your bank account

You will be emailed at the start of each semester to update your bank account details in the Web Enrolment System (WES).  If you are not able to enter your bank details in WES, you can complete a Scholarship bank details form (word, 133kb)If you do not provide your bank details by the requested date, your scholarship will be terminated.

Most payments are made at the end of April in semester 1 and at the end of September in semester 2.  An email will be sent to students once the payment has been made

Direct to your course fees

If you receive one of the following scholarships, you can have your scholarship paid directly to your course fees.

  • Business Information Systems IBL Scholarship (first year students only)
  • Engineering Excellence Award
  • Monash University Faculty Scholarship
  • Monash University Jubilee Honours Scholarship
  • Monash University Indigenous Scholarship for Achievement and Equity
  • Monash University International Scholarship for Excellence
  • Monash University Merit Scholarship
  • Monash University Scholarship for Excellence and Equity

You can choose this payment option in WES until 15 March each year. Once selected, this option will apply to the whole year and will be paid before 31 March and 31 August. If you change your enrolment after the scholarship payment, it will take two weeks for your fee statement to be updated.

Payment calculation

If your scholarship payment is calculated on EFTSL/credit point load, you will be paid for the units you are enrolled in at the census date.  Eg. If your scholarship value is $6,000 per 48 credit points and you are enrolled in 18 credit points, then your semester 1 payment will be $2250.

If your scholarship is paid 'per annum' you will be paid in two equal instalments, unless otherwise indicated in your scholarship offer letter or terms and conditions.

One-off scholarship and bursary payments will be made in April (for offers made in semester 1) or in September (for offers made in semester 2).

Part-time scholarship holders

Students enrolled part-time with approved scholarships must complete a Tax File Number Declaration Form. You can request this form from the Coursework Scholarships Unit by submitting an inquiry through ask.monash.
