Donovan-Johnston Memorial Scholarship

The Donovan-Johnston Memorial Scholarship was established at the bequest of Kathleen Mary Johnston to support students from the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences with accommodation costs associated with living in the Monash University Halls of Residence or Mannix College.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
  • a commencing undergraduate student, and
  • intending to enrol full-time in either the Bachelor of Laws (including any associated Law double degrees) or Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, and
  • have a permanent residence that is more than 80 km from the Melbourne General Post Office, and
  • intending to reside at Monash Residential Services at Clayton campus or Mannix College.

Selection criteria

Awarded to the highest achieving eligible students based on ATAR score or equivalent.

Value and number available

$4000 per annum for a maximum of two years for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery.

$4000 per annum for a maximum of five years for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws (or Law double degrees).

Up to two scholarships are available, offered consecutively to students enrolled in the above degrees.

Retention

Recipients must reside in MRS or Mannix College accommodation, while maintaining full-time enrolment and a minimum of a credit weighted average mark (60 per cent).

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.
