Vice-Chancellor's Concertmaster Scholarship

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or
  • an international student, and
  • a commencing music performance student intending to enrol in an honours degree or postgraduate (coursework) degree in the School of Music at a Monash campus in Australia, or
  • a continuing music performance student enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree in the School of Music at a Monash campus in Australia, and
  • majoring in classical violin performance studies, and
  • participating in the Monash Academy Orchestra.

Selection criteria

Awarded to eligible students based on a combination of academic performance, previous musical performance as determined by the School of Music, and performance at an interview/audition. Current students must have achieved a minimum of a distinction grade average (70 per cent) in their principle music study.

Value and number available

$6000 per 48 credit points of study for a maximum of one year only. One Scholarship is available.

Applications

All eligible students will be invited to an audition/interview by the School of Music and will be automatically assessed for this scholarship.

Retention

Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance as determined by the School of Music at Monash University.

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.
