Dr Gilbert M Davis Award

The award was created to assist students studying medicine to meet the accommodation expenses incurred in connection with their studies.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
• a commencing or continuing full-time undergraduate student, and
• enrolled or intending to enrol in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery* at a Monash campus in Australia, and
• able to demonstrate financial disadvantage, and
• relocated from a regional and remote area.

*This includes the graduate entry Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery offered at Gippsland campus.

Selection criteria

Awarded to the highest achieving eligible students based on a combination of academic achievement and demonstration of financial disadvantage and rural relocation. Year 12 students will be selected based on ATAR score or equivalent and continuing students will be selected based on weighted average mark in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery. Preference will be given to students who reside or have resided in the Shire of Indigo.

Value and number available

Variable, depending upon funding. One award is available.

Retention

Recipients must maintain full-time enrolment.

Deferability

This award cannot be deferred.
