Monash Gippsland Industry Placement Scholarship

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa, or
  • permanent humanitarian visa, and
  • competed Year 12 or IB or equivalent, and
  • a commencing student or a continuing full-time on-campus first year undergraduate student, enrolled or intending to enrol in one of the following courses at the Monash Gippsland campus:
      - Arts
      - Art and Design
      - Business
      - Engineering
      - Information Technology
      - Science

OR

  • an international student, and
  • a commencing full-time on-campus undergraduate student, enrolled in one of the following courses at
    a Monash Gippsland campus:
      - Engineering
      - Masters of Applied Information Technology (MAIT)
      - Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems (2 + 2 program with Stamford University)

NOTE: Students enrolled in the following degrees are not eligible:

  • Nursing (single or double degrees)
  • Education (single or double degrees)
  • Bachelor of Social and Community Welfare

Selection criteria

The scholarship will be awarded to eligible students based on a combination of:

  • high academic achievement
  • the applicants expectation in relation to industry based learning and their self assessment of what they believe they can contribute to a host employer
  • performance at an interview with Monash staff and industry representatives
  • involvement in school and community activities
  • leadership and work experience
  • motivation, enthusiasm and commitment

Value

$16500 paid in 6 x $2750 instalments in the second and third year of your degree.

Art and Design students - $8400 paid in 6 x $1400 instalments in the second and third year of your degree.

Retention

Recipients must maintain a full-time on-campus enrolment and satisfactorily complete:

  • the Co-op Professional Development Program
  • at least seven out of eight units studied in both first year and second year of undergraduate studies
  • a 29 week Industry based work placement with a satisfactory level of performance
  • the faculty academic co-op unit assessment.

Deferability

This scholarship can be deferred.
