Dr Herbert Gibson Rural Health Scholarship

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must be:

• an Australian citizen, and
• a commencing or continuing student, and
• from a regional and remote area, and
• experiencing financial disadvantage, and
• enrolled or intending to enrol full-time in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery* at a Monash campus in Australia.

*This includes the graduate entry Bachelof of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery offered at Gippsland campus.

Selection Criteria

Awarded to students based on a combination of academic achievement and need. Commencing students must have achieved a minimum ATAR score or equivalent of 95. Current Monash students must have a minimum of a high distinction weighted average mark (80 per cent).

Value and number available

$4000 per annum for the duration of the degree up to a maximum of 5 years. Number available is variable depending on funding.

Retention

Recipients must maintain full time enrolment and a minimum of a credit grade average (60 per cent).

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.
