Monash Indigenous HDR Support Bursary

The Monash Indigenous HDR Support Bursary is a strategic initiative funded by Access Monash to assist Indigenous Australians in undertaking postgraduate higher degree by research programs.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

• of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
• a commencing or continuing higher degree by research student, and
• enrolled or intending to enrol in a higher degree by research at a Monash campus in Australia.

Selection criteria

Awarded to eligible applicants. If there are more eligible applicants than the number of bursaries available, preference will be given to students from one or more of the following Monash University defined equity or personal disadvantage groups:

• people from rural and isolated areas
• people experiencing low socio-economic circumstances
• people with a disability or long term medical condition
• people experiencing long term family difficulties.

Value

$6,000 paid per annum for one year only.

Up to 6.

Retention

Recipients must maintain enrolment in an approved course at Monash University. For bursaries awarded in 2008, students must be continuing to study in 2009.

Deferability

This bursary cannot be deferred.
