Monash University International Scholarships for Excellence

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an international student, and
  • applying for a course through International Recruitment Services, or
  • studying Australian Year 12 or IB in 2011, or
  • a continuing international student, and
  • enrolled or intending to enrol in an on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree at a Monash campus in Australia.

Selection criteria

Awarded to the highest achieving eligible:

  • students applying for a course through International Recruitment Services who achieved in the top 5 per cent in their previous studies, or
  • Australian Year 12 applicants based on their ATAR score or equivalent. Students must have achieved an ATAR score or equivalent of at least 95.00, or
  • continuing Monash students with a minimum of a high distinction weighted average mark (80 per cent).

Scholarships will be allocated based on the strategic priorities determined by the University. Scholarships will be offered to commencing students first, with any remaining scholarships to be offered to continuing Monash University students.

Value

$6000 per 48 credit points of study, for the minimum number of credit points required to complete the degree.

The number available is variable depending on funding. In 2011, 58 scholarships were available. A minimum of one scholarship will be awarded to a student in each faculty.

Retention

Recipients must maintain a minimum of a distinction weighted average mark (70 per cent).

Applications

International students applying to Monash for entry to a course will be automatically assessed when their course application is received. Students studying Year 12 or IB in Australia in 2011 must apply for scholarships via the VTAC scholarship application portal.

Continuing Monash students must apply for this scholarship via the Monash online scholarships application form.

Deferability

This scholarship can be deferred.
