Monash Joseph Gioscio Italian Scholarship

The Monash Joseph Gioscio Italian Scholarship was established within the Department of Romance Studies in the Faculty of Arts to reward academic excellence in undergraduate studies and encourage students to pursue research studies in Italian through an Honours program.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
  • enrolled or intending to enrol in a full-time Monash University honours program in Italian in the Faculty of Arts at a Monash campus in Australia, or
  • enrolled or intending to enrol in a postgraduate (coursework) degree in Italian in the Faculty of Arts at a Monash campus in Australia.

Selection criteria

Awarded to the highest achieving eligible students who receive a minimum grade average of 80 per cent in previous relevant studies. Preference may be given to students enrolled in an honours program.

Value

$1,000 per annum for one year only.

Number available in 2009

Variable, depending on funding.

Retention

Recipients must maintain a minimum of a distinction grade average (70 per cent).

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.
