June Howqua Scholarship

Eligibility

To be eligible you must be:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
• a full-time continuing Monash undergraduate student studying the final year of the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery* at a Monash campus in Australia

* This includes the graduate entry Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery offered at Gippsland campus.

Selection criteria

Awarded to eligible applicants on the basis of academic achievement (students must have achieved a minimum of a high distinction weighted average mark; 80 per cent). Applicants will be asked to submit an essay (of 4000 Characters or less, including spaces) addressing the following:

1. How will the scholarship benefit you?
2. Demonstrate the potential to make an impact as a medical practitioner.
3. Where you see yourself in 10 years time in terms of professional practice and engagement.
4. Demonstrate that your activities outside the formal confines of the medical school have had an effect on other people?

Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate financial disadvantage.

Value and number available

Variable depending on funding. One scholarship is available.

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.
