Rotary Club of Box Hill Central Travelling Bursary
In recognition of the long standing association between the Box Hill Hospital and the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central, the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central Travelling Bursary was introduced to assist final year students studying the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery to undertake an elective placement in a developing country.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:
- an Australian citizen or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or
- an international student, and
- a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the final year of the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in 2009 at a Monash campus in Australia, and
- undertaking an elective placement in a developing country in 2009.
Selection criteria
Selection of candidates will be on the basis of:
- academic achievement
- the merit of the proposed work program in the remote or indigenous community (as determined by the selection committee)
- the quality of the written submission, in which applicants will be expected to demonstrate how the financial assistance of the bursary would assist with the budgeted cost of undertaking the elective
- the involvement in clinical placements at Box Hill Hospital
- the priority of the selected developing country within the overall plans of Monash and the Rotary Club and Box Hill Hospital.

Recipients must maintain full-time enrolment.
Deferability
This bursary cannot be deferred.
