Vallejo Gantner Memorial Travel Grant
The Vallejo Gantner Memorial Travel Grant was created in 1970 in memory of Vallejo Gantner, a student in the Faculty of Arts during the university's foundation year who died in 1962 as the result of an accident. The travel grant is an incentive for students who possess an inquiring spirit, by enabling them to travel during the summer vacation period to a 'developing' country.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
- a continuing undergraduate on-campus student enrolled in the second year of a degree in either the Faculty of Business and Economics or the Faculty of Arts at a Monash campus in Australia, and
- travelling during the summer semester to a 'developing' country.
Selection criteria
Academic merit and the personal qualities of each applicant will be taken into consideration. Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have an enquiring spirit and must travel to a developing country (as determined by the selection committee) outside Australia for at least six weeks. A proposed itinerary with a brief outline of interest in the developing country should be supplied. The successful applicant will be required to submit a brief report of their experience upon their return.
