Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA)

The DDA is a federal law which can be used to address disability discrimination in many areas of public life, including education and employment.

The aims of the DDA are to:

  • Eliminate as far as practicable disability discrimination
  • Ensure equality before the law for people with a disability
  • Promote recognition and acceptance within the community that people with a disability have the same fundamental rights as the rest of the community
