Overview
This half-day workshop makes extensive use of the Honey and Mumford approach to understanding learning. We will identify individual learning preferences and then explore how these preferences affect the way we work either individually or in a group. The model of learning styles will be expanded into the learning cycle and we will look at group learning and conduct an exercise linking the learning cycle and individuals preferences to a way of creating your own 'learning group' within your area of work.
Intended Outcomes
At the end of this workshop you will:
- Recognise your own learning preference
- Know how these preferences impact on behaviours at work
- Identify strategies for developing a rounded approach to learning
- Practice the steps in group learning that mirror the learning cycle
Course Content
This workshop will be of half-day duration. It will be mainly facilitated with group activities and exercises. Participants will be involved in several group activities where there will be extensive debrief of the activity to enhance the learning.
These activities will use real-life Monash examples wherever possible. Generic examples will also be used to provide a balanced approach.
Handouts
A booklet of notes will be provided.
